The Friday practice at Silverstone continued under sunny weather. This time, the one hour long session was packed with action. The first measured laps began with times around the 1:59s range, with Johann Zarco taking the early lead. It was clear that the times were much faster than in FP1.

In second place was Marco Bezzecchi, who continued his impressive pace. A yellow flag was then caused by Jack Miller, who crashed out in Sector 4. Meanwhile, Alex Rins moved up to 2nd place, and Bezzecchi reclaimed the lead. Fabio Quartararo, who had a shortened FP1, was in 3rd place.

Notably, there were two KTMs in the top 10, Brad Binder and Pedro Acosta. Meanwhile, Ai Ogura left his garage and did not participate further in the session. Marc Márquez was down in 20th place, while his teammate Francesco Bagnaia was in 17th. Enea Bastianini did not participate in the session from the start.

With 12 minutes into the session, another yellow flag was brought out, this time by Marc Márquez, making it a difficult session for him so far. However, before crashing, he had managed to climb up to 3rd place. Another yellow flag followed, caused by Franco Morbidelli, who crashed in Sector 2. By the 15 minute mark, there had already been more crashes than in FP1.

As most riders returned to the pits, only five continued running. Alex Márquez moved up to 3rd place, ahead of his brother Marc. Johann Zarco was in 9th place. Meanwhile, Brad Binder dropped out of the top 10, with Maverick Viñales being the only KTM rider remaining there. Fabio Di Giannantonio was also in the top 10, while his teammate Franco Morbidelli was outside of it.

Francesco Bagnaia was at the bottom of the grid in 21st place, unable to improve. Around 24 minutes in, riders began to return to the track on different tyres to test various setups. Bagnaia improved to 8th place, while Jack Miller climbed to 3rd, behind Alex Rins in 2nd. Pedro Acosta entered the top 10, pushing Bagnaia down to 9th.

Aleix Espargaró, making a wildcard return, was in 20th place. Pedro Acosta continued to improve and moved up to 5th, overtaking Marc Márquez. An interesting run followed from the trio of Zarco, Rins, and Fermín Aldeguer, though only Aldeguer set a strong lap time, moving up to 7th place.

It was an interesting session, led by Aprilia, with Yamahas rounding out the top 3. But that was only the halfway point, and more action was expected toward the end. Sure enough, Quartararo moved up to 2nd, with Di Giannantonio jumping to 3rd, pushing Bagnaia out of the top 10.

Maverick Viñales took the lead as the fastest KTM rider, but it wasn’t for long, Joan Mir, on the Honda, took the top spot. As the session neared its end, lap times kept dropping rapidly. With only 23 minutes left, both Bagnaia and Marc Márquez remained outside the top 10, while most riders headed back to the pits.

An incident between Bezzecchi and Morbidelli came under investigation, with Morbidelli likely to receive a penalty. Alex Rins then moved up to 2nd, and Marc Márquez briefly took the lead with a time in the 1:57s range. Johann Zarco also took the lead for a moment before Márquez reclaimed it.

Bagnaia was still outside the top 10 until Di Giannantonio took the lead, and Aldeguer improved to 10th, with Bagnaia climbing to 7th. With 10 minutes remaining, lap times continued to fall. Quartararo improved to 4th, and Miller rose to 6th place, while Bezzecchi took the lead again.

Riders returned to the pits briefly before heading back out with 7 minutes left for their final flying laps. During this time, Alex Márquez took the lead, as he stayed on track while others were in the pits. Johann Zarco was in 5th, and Jack Miller held 2nd, before Quartararo jumped to the top with 2 minutes remaining. Bagnaia was back outside the top 10.

Bagnaia managed to improve only to 7th, meaning he had to hope not many others would improve. Somkiat Chantra was last, and Pedro Acosta held 10th for the time being. The only remaining challenger to Quartararo was Alex Márquez, who indeed took the lead and set a new lap record.

Aldeguer then knocked Acosta out of the top 10, while Alex Rins finished the session in 9th place.
