Cal Crutchlow will continue racing for Castrol Honda LCR at the MotoGP rounds in Brno and Assen as Johann Zarco recovers from a leg injury. The British rider's surprise return to the championship has been extended, giving him more opportunities to help Honda and compete on two of the sport's most famous circuits.
Cal Crutchlow will stay on the MotoGP grid for at least two more races after Castrol Honda LCR confirmed that he will continue to replace the injured Johann Zarco.
The experienced British rider has already returned to action this season and will now race at Brno in the Czech Republic and Assen in the Netherlands. The decision gives Crutchlow more time to help the team while Zarco continues his recovery from a serious leg injury.
Crutchlow came out of retirement earlier this year to support LCR Honda when Zarco was ruled out. Although he had not been racing full-time, the former MotoGP race winner quickly stepped back into competition and has been working hard to adapt to the current Honda RC213V.
The 40-year-old rider has already competed at Mugello and Balaton Park. His return has not been easy, as MotoGP bikes demand a very high level of fitness, but Crutchlow has said he is becoming more comfortable with the machine and is making progress every time he rides.
The next race at Brno will bring back special memories for the Briton. It was at the famous Czech circuit where he scored his first MotoGP podium in 2012. Four years later, he achieved another career milestone there by taking his first MotoGP victory. That win made him the first British rider in decades to win a premier-class Grand Prix.
After Brno, Crutchlow will travel to Assen, one of the most historic venues in motorcycle racing. The Dutch circuit is often called "The Cathedral of Speed" and has been part of Grand Prix racing for many years. Racing at both tracks will give Crutchlow more opportunities to build speed and gather valuable information for Honda.
Meanwhile, Zarco remains focused on recovering from injuries to his left leg. His return date is still uncertain because he must fully recover before undergoing further treatment and rehabilitation. Until then, Crutchlow will continue to play an important role for the team.
Crutchlow is one of Britain's most successful MotoGP riders of the modern era. During his Grand Prix career, he won three MotoGP races and achieved numerous podium finishes. He also spent several years working as a test rider, helping manufacturers develop their motorcycles. His experience is now proving valuable for Honda during a difficult period.
For MotoGP fans, the announcement means they will see one of the sport's most popular and respected riders continue his unexpected comeback for at least two more rounds. Whether fighting for points or helping Honda improve its bike, Crutchlow's return has already become one of the notable stories of the 2026 MotoGP season.
