Pedro Acosta is one of the most talked-about riders in MotoGP. Even though he has a contract with KTM until the end of 2025, rumors say he might join another team soon. Big names like Honda and VR46 are watching closely, but leaving KTM won’t be easy.

Pedro Acosta is still at the center of rumors about his future. And although he has a contract with KTM until the end of 2025, there are growing talks that he and his manager, Albert Valera, might be looking for a new team.

This year, KTM has not been performing well, which may be making Acosta think twice about staying there. Many people in the paddock believe he could be aiming to move teams, yet it won’t be easy.

Mostly because his current contract includes a huge release clause. Reports suggest that any team wanting to sign him would have to pay around €6 million just to break him out of his deal — and that’s before even paying his salary.

This already high cost is turning away several teams. Yet one of the most talked-about possibilities was VR46, owned by Valentino Rossi. The VR46 team currently has one GP25 Ducati, which they could use to attract Acosta.

Rossi reportedly sees Acosta as someone who could challenge Marc Márquez for future world titles, even stopping Márquez from beating Rossi’s achievements. However, insiders now say that VR46 is not seriously in the running to sign Acosta.

MotoGP reporter Gavin Emmett said on TNT Sports: “There’s a lot of talk, but nobody really knows. What people do agree on is that VR46 won’t pay that kind of money to sign him. It’s just too much.”

But there is another name in the game — Honda. After struggling in recent years, the team is now showing signs of improvement. And they could also have the money to make a big offer.

MotoGP expert Michael Laverty added on TNT Sports: “Albert Valera is a smart manager. He’s probably already working on trying to find a way out. Honda has the money, and they might be willing to spend big.”

Yet Honda is also interested in signing World Superbike star Toprak Razgatlioglu. Some even believe that Honda hopes to build a dream team in 2026 with both Toprak and Acosta riding for them.

Currently, Honda’s factory team riders are Joan Mir and Luca Marini. Johann Zarco, who rides for the LCR Honda team, has also had some solid performances this year — another sign that Honda may be heading in the right direction.

So, with so many possibilities, Pedro Acosta’s next move is unclear. But one thing is certain: there is change on the horizon.
