With the countdown to Formula 1’s new era well underway, fans will soon have the perfect warm-up as Formula 1: Drive to Survive returns for its eighth season on Netflix.

Season 8 focuses on the 2025 championship, a year that delivered one of the closest title fights in recent memory. Oscar Piastri emerged as an early championship favourite after a strong opening phase, but the momentum soon shifted as Max Verstappen mounted a powerful comeback during the second half of the season.

While Piastri endured a difficult run of form, his McLaren team-mate Lando Norris grew increasingly competitive as the season progressed. That consistency paid off in the end, with Norris securing his first Formula 1 World Championship by a narrow two-point margin at the Abu Dhabi finale.

Beyond the title fight, the series also explores a fiercely competitive midfield and several high-profile storylines away from the track, continuing Drive to Survive’s trademark mix of sporting drama and behind-the-scenes access.

The new season arrives perfectly timed ahead of the 2026 championship, which begins with the Australian Grand Prix on March 6–8, opening a 24-round calendar and ushering in Formula 1’s new technical regulations.
