Formula 1 2025 F1 season Drive to Survive Netflix

Netflix will release the eighth season of Formula 1: Drive to Survive on 27 February, revisiting the dramatic 2025 Formula 1 season and its three-way title fight between Lando Norris, Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri.

The new series focuses on a campaign that delivered major changes in team line-ups, management shake-ups and a championship battle that went down to the final race in Abu Dhabi.

According to the official synopsis, the opening episode, called "New Kids on the Track", centres on the influx of young drivers at the start of 2025. Kimi Antonelli debuted for Mercedes, Gabriel Bortoleto for Sauber, Isack Hadjar for Racing Bulls and Jack Doohan for Alpine. Liam Lawson and Ollie Bearman also stepped into full-time seats despite limited previous experience. The episode follows their early races and the pressure of establishing themselves in Formula 1.

The second episode (Strictly Business) shifts to the sport’s tougher side. Alpine replaced Doohan after just six race weekends, bringing in Franco Colapinto. Red Bull demoted Lawson after two rounds and promoted Yuki Tsunoda. Team principals Christian Horner and Flavio Briatore are expected to feature prominently as the series documents how quickly decisions are made when results do not meet expectations.

“The Number 1 Problem” centres on McLaren. As Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris both emerged as genuine title contenders, internal pressure began to grow. The episode explores the “mental war” between the two team-mates as the championship battle intensified.

Episode four, “A Bull with No Horns”, covers the shock dismissal of Christian Horner from Red Bull in July 2025. The episode also teases Red Bull’s dramatic victory in Japan, while ongoing car performance issues and second-seat instability add further pressure around the team’s leadership.

“The Sky’s the Limit” takes viewers to the Miami Grand Prix and focuses on Williams’ strong start to the season. Alex Albon climbs the standings, while new signing Carlos Sainz faces early difficulties. The episode raises questions about whether Williams made the right decision in signing the Spaniard.

Episode six, “The Duel”, shifts attention to Mercedes and Ferrari as they battle for second place in the Constructors’ Championship. It also documents Antonelli’s early period at Mercedes and Hamilton’s first races in Ferrari colours.

“What Happens in Vegas” revisits the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Alongside the glamour and spotlight on a new team principal on the pit wall, the episode covers McLaren’s major setback, with Norris and Piastri disqualified and losing crucial points in the title race.

The season concludes with “Call me Chucky”. Named after Max Verstappen’s remark towards Zak Brown during the title fight, the final episode focuses on the dramatic conclusion to the championship and the decisive moments that defined the 2025 season.

Drive to Survive Season 8 will be available worldwide on Netflix from 27 February.
