The highly anticipated Dutch Grand Prix took place under cloudy weather. As the formation lap started, a few riders already had problems with the tyres into turn 1, as the tyres locked up. Most of the riders started on medium tyres, with four riders starting on soft and two of them starting on hard tyres. And with no problem during the formation lap, the race started. The start went well for Piastri who held his lead, while Max Verstappen managed to get into second place, ahead of Lando Norris into turn 1. However, Norris got ahead for a bit and tried to defend Verstappen, which led to Verstappen almost spinning. In the end Verstappen got into second place.

After lap 1, the top 10 looked like this: Piastri, Verstappen, Norris, Hadjar, Leclerc, Russell, Hamilton, Lawson, Sainz, Albon. Alex Albon had an incredible start, starting from P15, he managed to get into 10th place on the first lap, gaining 5 positions. On the other hand, Gabriel Bortoleto had a bad start, losing many positions right at the start. Franco Colapinto overtook his teammate Pierre Gasly into turn 1, on lap 5. From lap 3, Piastri held the fastest lap badge, while he drove with a gap over 3 seconds ahead of Verstappen.

On lap 8, Charles Leclerc started to catch up to Isack Hadjar ahead of him, trying to overtake him soon. And as lap 9 started, Norris overtook Verstappen on the outside of turn 1, while also claiming the fastest lap.

On lap 13, Kimi Antonelli closed in on Yuki Tsunoda ahead of him, battling for 11th place. Bortoleto had damaged front wing from a collision with Lance Stroll, yet he was driving just fine. On lap 15, Leclerc was still behind Hadjar, unable to get close to him now and overtake him, but that was all for now. On lap 17 the rain began to fall, and could cause a dramatic change in the positions. Meanwhile Bortoleto had received a warning, Alonso went into the pits to change the tyres to hard and he dropped to last place. On lap 20, a few of the riders went into the pits, while the rain started to get heavier.

On lap 23, there was a first yellow flag of the race with safety car deployed, caused by Lewis Hamilton, who had hit the wall between turn 3 and 4. Meanwhile his teammate went just one lap before into the pits, while the other got a free stop with the yellow flag. The safety car ended at the end of lap 26, with the riders close to each other. And with the green flags waving, George Russell tried to overtake Hadjar into turn 1, meanwhile Carlos Sainz and Liam Lawson made contact while fighting with each other, both dropping to the back of the grid. Alex Albon managed to make a position up, moving to 7th place.

On lap 31, Antonelli tried to overtake Albon, as he dived into the inside of turn 1, but Albon managed to hold the position from the outside. And the virtual safety car was on, due to the debris from turn 1 incident involving Sainz and Lawson. Just as the VSC ended, Leclerc overtook Russell from the inside, going over the gravel, almost off the track with all four wheels. The drivers even made small contact with the tyres, but Leclerc successfully got ahead of Russell to 5th place. Meanwhile Sainz had received a 10-second penalty for causing the collision with Lawson.

On lap 35, there was a yellow flag for track hazard for a moment, but was soon resolved. And as the race continued, the collision between Leclerc and Russell was under investigation. Meanwhile Antonelli managed to overtake Albon, and he moved up to 7th place. The race directors decided that the incident between Russell and Leclerc will be investigated after the race, with the drivers having a chance to say their point of view about it.

On lap 45, the top 10 looked like this: Piastri, Norris, Verstappen, Hadjar, Leclerc, Antonelli, Russell, Albon, Stroll, Ocon.

On lap 51, Alonso managed to overtake Nico Hulkenberg ahead of him, moving to 16th place. And he continued overtaking, as he overtook even Bortoleto, ending in 15th place. On lap 53, Antonelli hit Leclerc, sending him into the barriers, causing a yellow flag and safety car deployment. It was a tragic day for Ferrari with both drivers crashing at turn 3 and out of the race. The race stewards gave Antonelli a 10-second penalty for causing the incident with Leclerc. The race control also decided that Sainz and Lawson can overtake the safety car. On lap 57 the safety car ended. As the race continued with green flags, there weren’t any changes in the positions. And as if it wasn’t enough, Antonelli received another penalty, this time a 5-second penalty for speeding in the pit lane, putting the time penalty up to 15 seconds.

On lap 65, Norris reported smoke coming from his cockpit. And it was even seen, Lando Norris retired from Dutch Grand Prix, deploying a yellow flag with safety car. So with the safety car still out on lap 68, the top ten looked like this: Piastri, Verstappen, Hadjar, Russell, Albon, Antonelli, Bearman, Stroll, Alonso, Gasly.

The safety car ended at the end of lap 68. There was a collision between Tsunoda and Gasly, which dropped Gasly to the last place while Tsunoda moved to 10th. And Oscar Piastri won the Dutch Grand Prix, with Max Verstappen in second place and rookie Isack Hadjar rounding out the podium.
