F1: The Movie has been nominated for two Golden Globe awards ahead of the ceremony on 11 January.
The film stars Brad Pitt and Damson Idris and is nominated for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement as well as Best Original Score for a Motion Picture. Since its release in June 2025, it has earned more than 631 million dollars worldwide. The music was composed by Hans Zimmer, who has already won this award several times.
In the box office category, the film will compete with well known titles such as Avatar: Fire and Ash, KPop Demon Hunters, Mission: Impossible The Final Reckoning, Sinners, Weapons, Wicked: For Good and Zootopia 2. Zimmer’s score will also compete with music by Alexandre Desplat, Ludwig Göransson, Jonny Greenwood, Kangding Ray and Max Richter.
The story follows Sonny Hayes, played by Brad Pitt, who returns to Formula One to help the struggling APXGP team. He works together with rookie driver Joshua Pearce, played by Damson Idris. The cast includes Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies and Kim Bodnia, and several real Formula One drivers appear in the film as well. Many scenes were filmed during actual race weekends, which helps the film feel very realistic.
The success of the film has already led to early talks about a sequel. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has spoken with Lewis Hamilton about possible ideas for a second film. Bruckheimer explained that the team trained for months in real racing cars and filmed at nine Formula One circuits to make the film as authentic as possible. With strong interest from audiences, a follow up film now seems very likely.
Congratulations to the 83rd #GoldenGlobes nominees for Best Cinematic and Box Office Achievement:
