Franco Morbidelli has confirmed his future with the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team, extending his contract for the 2026 MotoGP season. After returning to the podium in 2025, the Italian rider will continue alongside Fabio Di Giannantonio in Valentino Rossi’s team.
Franco Morbidelli will continue to race for Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing team in the 2026 season, securing his place alongside Fabio Di Giannantonio . The news come after a strong start to his time with the team, which so far already gave him a podium in 2025.
Morbidelli’s connection to VR46 runs deep. He was the first rider to come through the VR46 Riders Academy, and in 2017 he gave the project its first World Championship title by winning the Moto2 title. Since stepping up to MotoGP, he has collected three race victories, six podiums, and was runner-up in the 2020 season.
After joining VR46 in 2025, Morbidelli wasted no time in proving his worth. He celebrated two Grand Prix podiums, one in Argentina and one in Qatar. He also added two more in the sprint races at Qatar and Hungary.
Speaking about his contract renewal, Morbidelli expressed his happiness with the team to MotoGP.com:
“I feel a real bond here and I enjoy working with every member of the squad. It’s a joy to continue racing with VR46 next season. We’ve already shared some amazing moments, and I believe there’s a lot more to come. I want to thank Vale, Uccio, Pablo, all the partners, and the VR46 Academy for their trust and support.”
This new deal means Morbidelli will remain with the team for a second consecutive year, carrying on under the leadership of Valentino Rossi.
