Franco Colapinto drove a Formula 1 car in Buenos Aires in front of a huge crowd, as fans gathered to watch a special road show in the city centre.
Franco Colapinto put on a Formula 1 demonstration in Buenos Aires on Sunday 26 April, attracting an estimated 600,000 fans. The event took place around the Monumento de los Españoles, where spectators filled the streets along a 2km route on Avenida del Libertador.
Colapinto drove the 2012 Lotus E20, completing several runs that included burnouts, donuts and high-speed passes. He also waved to fans during the show. It was a special moment for the local driver, who became the first Argentinian to drive a Formula 1 car on the streets of Buenos Aires. The programme also included live entertainment and a stage appearance by Colapinto.
Fans also saw a demonstration run in a replica of the Mercedes-Benz W196, the car once driven by Juan Manuel Fangio.
