Formula 1 Alpine F1 Team Pierre Gasly 2026 F1 season F1 Monaco

Alpine has successfully challenged the penalties that cost Pierre Gasly a podium finish in the Monaco Grand Prix, with the FIA overturning the sanctions and restoring the Frenchman to third place.

Pierre Gasly has officially been reinstated to third place in the Monaco Grand Prix after Alpine won its Right of Review appeal against the two five-second penalties handed to the French driver during the race.

Gasly was among five drivers penalised for exceeding the pit lane speed limit, alongside team mate Franco Colapinto, Lewis Hamilton, George Russell and Oscar Piastri. While most served their penalties during the race, Gasly's sanctions remained unresolved, allowing Alpine to request a review of the decision.

After examining the case, the FIA stewards decided to cancel both penalties, promoting Gasly from seventh back to third in the final classification. The revised results mean Isack Hadjar loses his maiden Formula 1 podium and drops to fourth, while Piastri and Racing Bulls drivers Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad each fall one position.

Alpine welcomed the outcome in an official statement.

“The stewards have rescinded the two five-second penalties imposed on car number 10, which reinstates the team’s third place finish. We would like to thank the FIA and Formula One Management for its transparency and co-operation throughout the Right of Review process and for reaching this decision.”
