Honda has decided not to call in any of its test riders to replace Luca Marini, who was injured during a recent test in Suzuka. Instead, the team will enter only Joan Mir for the upcoming Aragon Grand Prix. Although MotoGP rules allow a last-minute replacement if a rider is injured less than nine days before the race, Honda has confirmed it will not make any changes to the line-up.

Honda has officially decided not to use any of their test riders for this weekend’s Aragon Grand Prix. Instead, they will race with just one factory rider, Joan Mir.

Luca Marini, one of Honda’s main riders, was injured during a test at Suzuka last week. His injury is serious, and he won’t be racing for a while. However, Honda has chosen not to replace him for the Aragon race. Although the team has until Wednesday to name a last-minute replacement, they have no intention of doing so.

MotoGP rules say that if a rider is injured less than nine days before the next race, the team doesn’t have to find a replacement.

Honda’s test riders include Aleix Espargaro, Takaaki Nakagami, and Stefan Bradl. All of them have raced before and could have been called up. Espargaro raced as a wildcard in Jerez and Silverstone, Nakagami did so at Le Mans, and Bradl last raced at the Solidarity GP in Barcelona in 2024.

There are also no plans for Honda’s test team to join the official test on Monday at Motorland Aragon. Only the main factory riders will take part.

In other news, Yamaha’s Augusto Fernandez will race in Aragon as a wildcard. He has already filled in at the Austin, Qatar, and Jerez rounds for the injured Miguel Oliveira.

Finally, Ai Ogura is still recovering from knee surgery. He will have more tests on Tuesday and needs medical approval from MotoGP doctor Ángel Charte on Thursday to be allowed to race.
