Former Red Bull boss Christian Horner sparked fresh speculation over his motorsport future after appearing in the MotoGP paddock at the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez.
Former Red Bull Formula 1 team boss Christian Horner was spotted in the MotoGP paddock during this weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez, leading to fresh questions about his future in motorsport. The Briton has been without a role since leaving Red Bull in 2025, where he had been team principal since the team entered Formula 1 in 2005.
Horner was seen in the garage of the factory Honda MotoGP team, speaking with HRC president Koji Watanabe. The two know each other well from Honda’s successful partnership with Red Bull in Formula 1. Horner was also visiting Jerez with Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali.

Speaking to the MotoGP world feed, Horner explained why he had come to the event. He said: “Well, I’ve always been a big fan of MotoGP and while I’ve got a little bit of time, I thought it was a good opportunity to come down and have a look at the championship.”
He also spoke about the recent changes in the sport after Liberty Media became involved. Horner said: “I think it’s a really interesting time for MotoGP. It’s going through a period of change under new ownership as well. So, I wanted to come here and see a little bit for myself.”
Horner praised the quality of the racing and the riders, saying: “It’s great racing, it’s a great show. The riders are incredible, the bikes are incredible. It’s only when you get to see it live that you appreciate how insane these machines are.”
He also believes MotoGP has strong potential for the future: “I think as a sport, it has so much to offer. So, hopefully the Liberty guys, with the experience they have in Formula 1, will be able to lean into that.”
Although Horner has also been linked with a possible return to Formula 1 through Alpine, no agreement has been reached. His visit to Jerez has now created fresh speculation that he could look at opportunities in MotoGP instead.
