Jorge Lorenzo, the three-time MotoGP World Champion, believes that Francesco Bagnaia needs help from a sports psychologist to recover from the 2025 season.

Many people expected Pecco to fight hard with Marc Márquez at Ducati this year. In 2024, Bagnaia had an amazing season. He won 11 races and missed the world title by only 11 points. Because of this, fans thought 2025 would be another strong year for him.

But things went wrong very early. Pecco never felt confident with the front of his GP25 bike. He struggled to trust the bike when turning into corners, and his results became very inconsistent.

In the whole 2025 season, he only won two races. In the final five grands prix, he failed to score a single point. By the end of the year, he finished fifth in the championship, a huge 27 points behind Márquez.

Even Ducati could not fully understand what went wrong. The team tried many set-up changes, but nothing seemed to help Pecco feel comfortable or confident on the bike.

Jorge Lorenzo says the real problem may be inside Pecco’s mind, not just on the bike.

He explained that when a very fast rider like Márquez joins your team and is instantly quicker, it can make you feel nervous. You can start to doubt yourself, lose confidence, and lose the joy of riding.

Lorenzo said he went through similar moments in his own career and decided to work with a sports psychologist. He believes Bagnaia should do the same to rediscover his positivity and enjoy racing again.

Lorenzo also said that Pecco needs time to rest and clear his head. He thinks the three-month break and trying a slightly new bike could help him forget negative thoughts and start fresh.

He added that outside help could be very important. He suggested speaking to coaches and even getting advice from VR46, which is linked to Valentino Rossi.

Lorenzo made it clear that asking for help is not a weakness. He said riders must be humble enough to say, “I have a problem, and I want to try to fix it.”

To support his idea, he gave the example of Andrea Dovizioso. Before the 2017 season, Dovizioso started working with a psychologist. His riding style did not change, but his mindset did. He became more confident and believed more in himself, and his results improved.

Lorenzo finished by saying that Bagnaia is not worse than Alex Márquez in terms of pure talent. He believes Pecco is still a top rider; he just needs to find his confidence and happiness again.
