Ferrari confirmed that Riccardo Adami has moved to a new role, with Lewis Hamilton’s new race engineer to be announced in due course.
Ferrari have confirmed that Riccardo Adami will no longer be Lewis Hamilton’s race engineer ahead of the new Formula 1 season. Instead, Adami has been moved to a new role within the team. He will now work as manager of Ferrari’s Driver Academy and its Testing of Previous Cars (TPC) programme.
Adami has been part of Ferrari since 2015 and has worked with several top drivers, including Sebastian Vettel and Carlos Sainz. He began working with Hamilton after the seven-time world champion joined Ferrari from Mercedes. However, the partnership did not deliver the results Ferrari had hoped for, and the team has now decided to make a change.
During the 2025 season, fans noticed tense radio exchanges between Hamilton and Adami, which led to rumours of problems between the two. Both Hamilton and team principal Fred Vasseur played down these claims at the time, with Hamilton dismissing them strongly. Even so, Ferrari have now reshuffled Adami’s position within the team.
In a statement, Ferrari thanked Adami for his work trackside and said his experience would help develop young drivers and strengthen the team’s performance culture. Ferrari also confirmed that Hamilton’s new race engineer will be announced soon, with the new partnership expected to begin during pre-season testing in Barcelona later this month.
