Indonesia Grand Prix weekend started with FP1 on Friday morning. The session started with sunny weather and the riders going immediately on track, as this session is only 45 minutes long.
First measured lap times were in a time range of 1:34 to 1:39s. After the first 5 minutes the top five looked as following: Fernandez, Zarco, Aldeguer, Chantra, Quartararo.

With the riders entering another measured times, their times improved rapidly. However, the first yellow flag was caused by Fermin Aldeguer crashing at Turn 8. It didn’t take long for riders to enter times of 1:33s. However, Marco Bezzecchi was the first rider to enter into a time range of 1:32s, being the fastest rider.

So far into the session, Raul Fernandez was impressing with a 2nd place in this session, while Honda continued to have decent results with 3 riders in the top 10. While Francesco Bagnaia who had won last weekend in Motegi, was currently in 18th. The riders all had medium rear tyre, with majority of them with medium tyre at front, the rest of them had soft tyre at the front.

In this session, Trackhouse had brought the Gulf livery back, now riding with a baby blue and orange livery, which so far looks like it brought them luck, making the only 2 Aprilia riders at the top 2 in this session.

Even KTM had managed to improve, and had Brad Binder and Pedro Acosta in the top 10. With the riders improving, they soon hit the time range of 1:31s, with Marc Márquez taking the lead, with a time 1:31.572.

With the session being 15 minutes in, the top 5 looked as following: Marc, Zarco, Bezzecchi, Quartararo, Miller.

After the riders made a stop in the pits, they returned on the track and started their fast measured lap times, with the time slowly coming into a time range of 1:30s. With 20 minutes left, the top 5 looked as following: Marc, Bezzecchi, Acosta, Zarco, Miller.

While Alex Márquez has broken into the top 10, sitting in 7th place, Bagnaia still remained outside the top 10. As the times got quicker, the only KTM rider able to catch up with the front was Pedro Acosta in third, and Brad Binder who was 0.8s away from Marc. While Marc was attempting a fast lap, he was almost thrown up by his bike into Turn 1.

With 10 minutes left of the session, Marc was still holding the lead, while Bezzecchi trailed him by 0.067s. Quartararo improved his time and jumped to 5th place, while Alex Márquez was no longer in top 10. The top 10 looked as following: Marc, Bezzecchi, Fernandez, Mir, Quartararo, Acosta, Morbidelli, Zarco, Rins, Miller.

As the session neared its end, Alex Rins put in an incredible lap, and jumped to 3rd place. While Acosta, who could have attacked the front, made a mistake, throwing away his attempt.

In a late turn of events, Luca Marini took the lead, with Acosta and Rins behind him. Marini had a time of 1:30.800.

The top 10 finished like this: Marini, Acosta, Bezzecchi, Rins, Marc, Miller, Quartararo, Di Giannantonio, Mir, Alex.
