MotoGP champion Marc Márquez is making steady progress in his recovery from his recent shoulder injury, according to his manager. He explained that the healing is going well step by step and that Márquez will return to training on a bike only when doctors say it is safe. The goal is for him to be fully ready before the 2026 pre-season begins.
MotoGP World Champion Marc Márquez is making good progress as he recovers from his recent shoulder injury. His manager has said that things are improving step by step, and they hope he will be able to ride a motorbike again soon.
Márquez, who is 32 years old, hurt his shoulder during the first lap of the Indonesian Grand Prix after being hit by Marco Bezzecchi. At first, doctors believed surgery was not needed. However, to help his shoulder heal properly, Márquez later chose to have an operation. Because of this, he will miss the rest of the 2025 MotoGP season.
According to his manager, Jaime Martinez, the full recovery may continue right up to the start of the 2026 pre-season tests. Even so, he says everything is going in the right direction and the medical team is happy with his progress.
Martinez explained that Márquez will return to training on a bike only when doctors give him permission. He said it is important not to rush such a serious injury. The aim is to let the shoulder heal fully so that Márquez can compete safely in the future.
MotoGP medical officer, Dr. Angel Charte, also said that stopping the season early was the correct decision. He believes returning too soon could have caused long-term damage and risked Márquez’s career.
The injury came only a week after Márquez celebrated his seventh MotoGP world title, his first championship win in six years. Thankfully, the crash did not worsen the arm injury he suffered in 2020, which had already caused him a long and difficult recovery.
For the final two races of the season, Ducati World Superbike champion Nicolo Bulega will take Márquez’s place on the grid in Valencia. Márquez will still travel to Valencia to attend the end-of-season ceremony, even though he will not be racing.
Despite the setback, his team remains positive. They are confident that, with patience and careful treatment, Marc Márquez will be back training and racing when the time is right.
