Maverick Viñales is ready to race again after missing several MotoGP events because of a shoulder injury. The Spanish rider will return at his home Catalan Grand Prix, giving KTM an important boost for the rest of the 2026 season.
Maverick Viñales will return to MotoGP racing this weekend at the Catalan Grand Prix after spending several weeks away from the track because of a shoulder injury. His team, Red Bull KTM Tech3, confirmed that the Spanish rider is now fit enough to race again.
Viñales had surgery after problems with a screw in his shoulder caused pain and reduced movement. The injury first became serious after the Grand Prix in Austin earlier this season. Doctors later decided that another operation was needed so he could fully recover before returning to competition.
The Catalan Grand Prix will be an important moment for Viñales because he has not scored any points yet this season. Even so, the rider says he feels strong, motivated and ready to compete again. His return is good news for KTM, as the team hopes his experience can help improve results during the rest of the championship.
The race in Catalunya is also special for Viñales because it is his home Grand Prix. Spanish fans are expected to give him a warm welcome when he returns to the grid. Many supporters believe racing at home could give him extra confidence after such a difficult period away from MotoGP.
MotoGP has already seen several injuries this season, showing how physically demanding the sport can be. Riders often continue racing through pain, but shoulder injuries are especially difficult because they affect braking, cornering and bike control. Viñales waited until he felt fully ready before making his comeback.
Now the focus is on whether Viñales can quickly return to his best form. Fans and the KTM team will hope he can enjoy a strong weekend and finally begin his 2026 season properly at the Catalan Grand Prix.
