After Max Verstappen easily won the season opener in Bahrain, finishing 22 seconds ahead of his teammate Sergio Perez, many fans expected that 2024 would be just like 2023, with Red Bull being basically unbeatable.

However, the situation now took an unexpected turn as Red Bull faces significant pressure due to worsening issues with the RB20, putting both championships at risk.

Since Verstappen reportedly has exit clauses in his Red Bull contract, which lasts until 2028, there has been continuous talk about the world champion's future with the team this season.

During the current season, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has expressed a desire to see Verstappen join the Brackley team.

At the same time, Aston Martin has also become a strong contender for the Dutchman’s signature, particularly after securing legendary designer Adrian Newey from Red Bull, with whom Verstappen enjoyed working.

Despite the ongoing chatter about his future, Verstappen insists that his main goal is to help Red Bull regain its early-season strength.

When asked by Motorsport.com if he liked having multiple options for 2026, with several teams remaining interested, Verstappen responded: "Yes, of course, I know it's possible, but I'm not really thinking about it right now.

"I think at the moment I have enough to worry about with other things we want to do better.

"We will see what happens in the future. At the moment I am not really thinking about it too much, to be honest.

“But if it doesn't happen, then so be it. It won't change my life."

Heading into this weekend’s United States Grand Prix, Verstappen holds a 52-point advantage over Lando Norris in the championship battle, seeking his fourth consecutive title.
