Lando Norris added another major achievement to his career after winning the Laureus World Breakthrough of the Year Award. The Briton received the prize in Madrid after his impressive 2025 season, when he secured his first Formula 1 world title. Norris beat Max Verstappen by just two points in a close championship battle.

It was another strong result for McLaren, although the team missed out on the Team of the Year award. That honour went to Paris Saint-Germain FC after winning the UEFA Champions League.

In the main categories, Carlos Alcaraz was named Sportsman of the Year, while Aryna Sabalenka won Sportswoman of the Year.

Formula 1 has enjoyed success at the Laureus Awards in the past, with previous main-category winners including Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel, Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.
