Sprint Qualifying at Spa started slowly, but once the cars hit the track, things quickly got busy. Drivers used the medium tyres, as required for this part of qualifying. Kimi Antonelli spun into the gravel after a gust of wind at Turn 15. He rejoined but brought gravel onto the track, causing trouble for others.

Lewis Hamilton was also in trouble and needed a clean final lap to make it through. However, he spun near the end of the lap and was out. Nico Hulkenberg was investigated for an unsafe release in the pit lane but escaped without a penalty.

In the end, five drivers were knocked out: Kimi Antonelli, Franco Colapinto, Lewis Hamilton, Nico Hulkenberg, and Alexander Albon. The top ten drivers were Oscar Piastri, Max Verstappen, Lando Norris, Fernando Alonso, George Russell, Isack Hadjar, Lance Stroll, Charles Leclerc, Carlos Sainz, and Gabriel Bortoleto.

The second part of SQ started with McLaren looking strong again. Oscar Piastri was fast early on, going four tenths quicker than teammate Lando Norris, but his time was deleted for going over track limits at Turn 4. Max Verstappen then set the pace with a lap six tenths faster than Norris, while Charles Leclerc went second.

In the final moments, many drivers improved as the track conditions got better. Piastri managed to recover and finished fourth. However, some big names were knocked out. Yuki Tsunoda and George Russell failed to make the top ten. Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll also didn’t get through, along with Liam Lawson.

SQ3

The final part of Sprint Qualifying at Spa-Francorchamps was all about timing, as drivers waited until the last few minutes to head out for one decisive flying lap. With the track improving, it became a one-lap shootout.

Oscar Piastri made the most of the conditions and delivered a brilliant lap of 1:40.510 to take sprint pole. He was almost five tenths quicker than Max Verstappen, who finished second. Lando Norris took third, making it two McLarens in the top three. Charles Leclerc secured fourth place for Ferrari, just ahead of Esteban Ocon, who had a strong showing for Haas.

Behind the top five, Carlos Sainz finished sixth for Williams. Oliver Bearman was seventh, followed by Pierre Gasly in eighth. Isack Hadjar finished ninth , while Gabriel Bortoleto completed the top ten.
