Pierre Gasly has signed a new long-term deal with Alpine that will keep him with the team until the end of 2028.
The French driver first joined Alpine in 2023 after leaving AlphaTauri, and since then he has become a key figure in the team’s progress. Last year, he helped Alpine secure sixth place in the Constructors’ Championship and scored two podium finishes.
Gasly’s old contract was due to expire at the end of 2026, but both he and the team wanted to show their commitment early, so they agreed to extend it before this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix. Alpine explained that they see Gasly as their leader for the future, especially with major rule changes arriving in Formula 1 in 2026.
So far in 2024, Gasly has been Alpine’s standout performer. He has scored all 20 of the team’s points this season, while his teammates, Jack Doohan and Franco Colapinto, have struggled to deliver results in the second car. This has strengthened Gasly’s reputation as the clear team leader and shown just how important he is to Alpine’s future.
At the moment, it also remains uncertain who will partner Gasly at Alpine in the seasons ahead, as the team has not yet confirmed whether Franco Colapinto will keep his seat or if another driver will be brought in to race alongside him.
