Formula 1 will race again in Turkey from 2027 after the championship officially confirmed the return of the Turkish Grand Prix. The event will take place at the popular Istanbul Park circuit, marking the venue’s first scheduled appearance since 2021. The circuit signed a 5-year contract until 2031.

Istanbul Park remains one of the most respected modern tracks in Formula 1. Designed by Hermann Tilke, the circuit is famous for its flowing layout and the legendary Turn 8, a fast multi-apex corner that quickly became one of the most iconic sections of the calendar.

The venue previously hosted nine Grands Prix between 2005 and 2011, including seven consecutive editions before dropping off the schedule. It later returned in 2020 and 2021 during the Covid-19 pandemic, when Formula 1 needed replacement venues after several planned races were cancelled.

Many memorable moments were created at Istanbul Park. Felipe Massa won three times in a row for Ferrari between 2006 and 2008, while Lewis Hamilton secured an emotional wet-weather victory there in 2020 to clinch his seventh world title. The most recent winner at the circuit was Valtteri Bottas in 2021.

"We are delighted to be returning to the incredible and vibrant city of Istanbul from 2027 to thrill all our fans in Türkiye and around the world on one of the most exciting and challenging circuits in Formula 1," said the F1 boss Stefano Domenicali.

"As a city, Istanbul represents a cultural gateway between Europe and Asia, offering a unique blend of history and tradition with a forward-thinking approach to sport, business, and entertainment," the Italian added.
