With a fun video online, Valtteri Bottas may have given a hint about where he could race in 2026.
Valtteri Bottas is one of the most experienced drivers in Formula 1. He began racing in the sport back in 2013 with the Williams team. Since then, he has driven for several teams, including Mercedes, Sauber, and Alfa Romeo. His most successful time was with Mercedes, where he achieved ten race wins and many podium finishes. He has taken part in over 240 races, and it seems he might not be finished yet.
Bottas posted a playful video on social media that got fans talking about his possible return to the F1 grid. In the video, he walks up to a Cadillac SUV and jokes about how nice the seat is. When someone asks him if he’d like to take one of the two free seats, Bottas replies with a mysterious “Not yet,” suggesting that an announcement could be coming soon.
Many believe this is a strong hint that Bottas may join the new Cadillac F1 team, which is expected to enter the sport in 2026. Cadillac has been linked with Bottas for some time, and this video only adds to the speculation. He could bring a lot of experience to the new team, which will be starting from scratch in Formula 1.
Cadillac has also been linked with other drivers, such as Mick Schumacher, Zhou Guanyu, and Sergio Perez. While Pérez has had some difficult seasons at Red Bull, his name has recently gained value again. Some rumours even suggest that Cadillac might prefer a mix of one experienced driver and one younger talent. If that’s the case, both Bottas and Pérez could be strong options.
Bottas, who is currently a reserve driver for Mercedes, has made it clear that he still wants to race full-time in F1. On the Beyond the Grid podcast, he said he’s “not done yet” and finds the Cadillac project “very interesting.” He explained that joining a brand-new team could be exciting because he could help shape its future from the beginning. According to Bottas, this fresh start, especially with new rules coming in 2026, could offer a great chance for success.
