Williams team principal James Vowles will take part in the Gulf 12 Hours in Abu Dhabi next month. It will be his first competitive outing for several years.
Vowles will drive a McLaren GT3 EVO for Garage 59. He will share the car with 2024 Pro-Am winner Alexander West, plus Mark Sansom and Marco Pulcini. Vowles knows the team well, as he worked with Garage 59 during the 2022 Asian Le Mans Series.
He has also completed several test runs in Spain this year to prepare for the endurance event.
“The chance to put on a race helmet again is something I relish,” Vowles said. “Garage 59 is a team I know well, and the Gulf 12 Hours is a fantastic event with a competitive grid. It will be a pleasure to share the car with Alex, Mark and Marco.”
Vowles has led Williams since the start of the 2023 season and has overseen steady progress at Grove.
The 12-hour race takes place on 14 December at Yas Marina Circuit, one week after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
