The MotoGP sprint race in Portugal was full of action. Alex Márquez won after a close fight with Pedro Acosta and Marco Bezzecchi. There were many overtakes and exciting moments, while Fermín Aldeguer moved up the order and Francesco Bagnaia lost places near the end.
The sprint race started with a warm-up lap that went successfully without any problems. And as the lights went out, the sprint race began. The start went well for Bezzecchi, who managed to hold his first place, while Alex Márquez improved his position to 3rd place ahead of Quartararo. Further back there was a battle for 6th between Di Giannantonio and Zarco. The rider who had a bad start was Bulega, who dropped to 20th place.
After the first lap the top ten looked as follows: Bezzecchi, Acosta, Márquez, Quartararo, Bagnaia, Di Giannantonio, Zarco, Binder, Espargaro, Marini.
Meanwhile at the front, Acosta was close behind Bezzecchi and managed to overtake him into Turn 1. And as if it wasn’t enough for Bezzecchi, he lost another position to Alex Márquez.
On lap 4, there was the first yellow flag, caused by Bulega crashing in sector 4. Fermín Aldeguer was the first rider to receive a track limits warning.
On lap 6, Acosta attacked Márquez, who had taken the lead, yet he was unsuccessful. But a few turns later, Acosta managed to overtake Alex. Bezzecchi in third used their battle to catch up to the duo ahead. The top 10 looked as follows: Acosta, Márquez, Bezzecchi, Quartararo, Bagnaia, Di Giannantonio, Zarco, Binder, Espargaro, Aldeguer.

Going into lap 8, Márquez overtook Acosta into Turn 1, yet Acosta didn’t give up and stayed close behind Márquez. Again, Acosta tried to overtake Márquez on the inside and managed to do so, taking the lead back. And just like the lap before, Márquez sent it into Turn 1, overtaking Acosta for the lead.
With 3 laps to go, the top 10 looked as follows: Márquez, Acosta, Bezzecchi, Quartararo, Di Giannantonio, Bagnaia, Zarco, Binder, Aldeguer, Espargaro.
Meanwhile further back, Bagnaia was caught by Zarco, Binder and Aldeguer. There was a beautiful overtake by Aldeguer, who overtook Binder and moved to 8th place.
As the action entered the last lap, Acosta was trying to catch Márquez, while Bagnaia was defending his position from other riders. And it was Alex Márquez who won the sprint race in Portugal. However, Bagnaia dropped to 8th place, while Aldeguer moved to 6th place with Zarco in 7th.
