Formula 1 Cadillac 2026 F1 season F1 testing

Cadillac has taken another visible step towards its long-awaited Formula 1 debut. The American brand has unveiled a special testing livery that will be used during pre-season running in Barcelona.

Cadillac’s entry into Formula 1 is moving closer, with the Cadillac Formula 1 Team set to make its first championship appearance at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on March 8.

The team’s special-edition testing livery was revealed on January 13 by Mark Reuss, President of General Motors, during the opening week of GM’s new global headquarters at the Hudson’s Detroit building. The design will be used during the all-team shakedown in Barcelona from January 26 to 30, before the official race livery is revealed on February 8.

Developed jointly by the GM Global Design team and Cadillac’s Formula 1 operation, the livery reflects a balance between brand identity and the practical needs of pre-season testing. As is common in Formula 1, testing liveries are designed to disguise aerodynamic details while still offering a strong visual link to the manufacturer behind the project.

The car wearing the Barcelona shakedown livery is currently on public display as part of GM’s opening celebrations and will remain on show at the Detroit Auto Show until January 25.

“This testing livery celebrates Detroit’s design heritage while allowing us to keep important technical details out of sight,” Reuss said. “Barcelona is just the beginning. We’re excited to show fans our full race livery next month.”

Cadillac Formula 1 Team CEO Dan Towriss underlined the broader vision behind the launch, pointing to the combined strength of General Motors and TWG as a chance to challenge established norms in the sport.
