Fermin Aldeguer will not race again at the Dutch MotoGP weekend after a crash during Friday practice at Assen. Doctors have said he is not fit to continue.
The young Spanish rider crashed at high speed in Turn 12 of the circuit. After the accident, he was taken to hospital for medical checks.
Doctors found that Aldeguer had fractured his T7 vertebra in his back. Because of this injury, he has been ruled out of the rest of the Dutch Grand Prix weekend.
This is another setback for the Gresini Racing rider. Earlier this year, he missed winter testing and the opening MotoGP race after breaking his femur in a training accident.
Gresini Racing confirmed the news after Aldeguer was examined by the MotoGP medical team. The team said that he had been declared unfit to race.
Everyone at MotoGP will now hope that Aldeguer makes a full and quick recovery before returning to action later this season.
