Formula 2 has confirmed changes to its 2026 calendar, with the cancelled Bahrain and Saudi Arabia meetings replaced by new appearances alongside Formula 1 in Miami and Montreal next month.

Formula 2 will head to North America for its next two rounds after revising its schedule following the cancellation of events in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

The championship was originally set to race at the Bahrain International Circuit this weekend before travelling to Jeddah the following week. Both meetings were called off after rising tensions in the Middle East and the wider regional conflict.

To keep the planned 14-round season intact, organisers have now added support races to the Formula 1 weekends in Miami and Canada during May.

Each event will follow the usual Formula 2 format, with a Sprint Race and a Feature Race. It will also mark the first time the category competes at both the Miami International Autodrome and Montréal’s Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.

F2 chief executive Bruno Michel welcomed the decision and underlined the importance of returning to action quickly.

“It was not an easy thing to do, but bringing F2 to North America for the first time is really fantastic. It’s something we have been wanting to do for a long time, and it enables us to ensure we’re back racing as quickly as possible,” Michel said.

The updated calendar means Formula 2 remains on course for a full season despite the disruption. Meanwhile, no alternative date has yet been announced for Formula 3’s cancelled Bahrain round. Formula 3 was not due to race in Saudi Arabia.

F1 Academy has also adjusted its plans after losing its Jeddah event. Instead of adding a new round, the series will run an extra race at both Montréal and the Circuit of the Americas.
