The Friday morning Free Practice 1 session in Valencia delivered a mix of fast times, returning riders, wildcard surprises, and late drama. With multiple riders coming back from injury and two notable wildcards on track, the session saw constant position changes, crashes, and a standout lap from Jack Miller to top the timesheets.
The morning Friday session, also known as Free Practice 1, is only a 45 minute long session. For the season finale here in Valencia, we saw many riders returning from injury, like Maverick Viñales, Raul Fernandez and Jorge Martin. Beside returning riders, there were 2 wildcards this weekend, as Yamaha brought back Augusto Fernandez with the V4 and Honda brought Aleix Espargaro.
The first times started in a time range of 1:32 to 1:37s. After the first measured lap, the top 10 looked as following: Di Giannantonio, Bagnaia, Quartararo, Aldeguer, Mir, Miller, Bastianini, Acosta, Zarco, Marini.
As it always is, with each new lap, the times got faster and the positions quickly changed. Alex Márquez was the first rider who got into a time range of 1:30s. The first yellow flag of the session brought out Brad Binder, who had crashed out in sector 3.

With 15 minutes into the session, the riders made their way back to pits, leaving only 2 riders on track. The top 10 looked as following: Márquez, Morbidelli, Mir, Marini, Bastianini, Di Giannantonio, Aldeguer, Acosta, Bagnaia, Zarco.
So far the riders who returned after injury were doing okay-ish. Martin was in the last place, while Vinales was in 20th and Raul Fernandez in 17th. For this weekend, the fans got a new graphic, showing the rear tyre temperature.
So far the top only Quartararo improves, as he jumped to 5th place. With the session crossing the halfway mark, Márquez didn’t improve his time, while Morbidelli also got into a time range of 1:30s. Espargaro on Honda improved and jumped to 5th place. Overall, Honda so far in this session was doing okay, with 4 riders in top 10.
The tyre configuration moving, while some riders chose soft front tyre, the others chose medium front tyre. However, everyone chose to have medium rear tyre on their bike.
And with 15 minutes left, the riders returned to pits, before their final attempts of this morning session. So far the top 10 killed as following: Márquez, Morbidelli, Aldeguer, Zarco, Espargaro, Di Giannantonio, Mir, Marini, Quartararo, Bastianini.
Jack Miller put in an incredible lap and moved to the lead of the session with 8 minutes left. With the latest improvement, it was Raul Fernandez who improved and jumped to 2nd place.

With 5 minutes left, yellow second flag was out, caused by Fermin Aldeguer crashing at turn 4. Meanwhile Espargaro jumped to 2nd place, showing incredible performance as a wildcard.
And with the chequered flag out the riders finished their last attempts. Ai Ogura improved his time and he moved to 2nd place, while Raul Fernandez was unable to improve, staying in now 4th place.
And it was official, the top 10 in the morning session ended like this: Miller, Ogura, Espargaro, Fernandez, Morbidelli, Márquez, Mir, Acosta, Di Giannantonio, Augusto Fernandez.
