Johann Zarco has revealed details of the knee injury he suffered in a serious crash during the MotoGP Catalan Grand Prix. The French rider was taken to hospital in Barcelona after the incident and later confirmed damage to his knee and surrounding ligaments, though he remains in stable condition and is focused on recovery.
Johann Zarco has spoken about the knee injury he suffered after a serious crash during the Catalan Grand Prix MotoGP race. The incident happened in a chaotic part of the race where several riders were involved in crashes after a restart, leading to two red flags and a heavily interrupted event.
After the crash, Zarco was taken to hospital in Barcelona for medical checks and observation. He later shared updates from his hospital bed, reassuring fans that he was conscious and in a stable condition.
Zarco explained that the main problem is his knee. Medical scans confirmed that he has a small fracture in the knee area, along with damage to the ligaments. The injury is painful, but he said that his femur is not broken, which is a positive sign for his recovery.
Doctors also found that he has injuries affecting important knee ligaments, including damage consistent with the ACL and PCL, as well as the meniscus. In addition to this, there is also a small fracture near the lower part of his fibula, close to the ankle on his left leg.
Despite the list of injuries sounding serious, Zarco described the situation as more frightening than dangerous. He said he feels more scared than badly hurt, and he tried to reassure supporters that he is being well looked after in hospital.
His team confirmed that he will remain under medical supervision while further tests are carried out. After that, he is expected to continue recovery planning with doctors to understand how long his return to racing might take.
The crash was part of a difficult and dangerous race where multiple riders were involved in incidents. Several competitors were also taken to medical care, highlighting how challenging the conditions were during the Catalan GP.
Zarco’s focus now is on recovery, with more updates expected once doctors complete all scans and assessments.
