Aprilia Racing have confirmed that Jorge Martin will travel to Thailand next week with the plan to take part in the Buriram MotoGP test.

The Spanish rider had a medical check on Monday at Hospital Ruber Internacional. Doctors examined his left hand and his right collarbone. The results were positive. This means he is well enough to travel. However, he still needs final approval from the FIM Grand Prix World Championship Medical Team before he is officially allowed to ride.

Martin has had a very difficult time with injuries over the past year. Although he returned to racing at the final round of last season in Valencia, his physical problems did not fully disappear. At first, he believed he was recovering well. But two weeks after the Valencia race, he began to feel strong pain again. He said he was so weak that he could not even lift a bottle of water at home.

After more medical checks, doctors discovered that some of his bones had not healed properly. He needed two more operations during the winter break. One surgery repaired a bone in his left hand that he originally broke in February last year. The second operation was on his collarbone, which had still not fully healed after his crash in Motegi.

Martin admitted that having more surgery was mentally very hard. There were moments when he felt doubt after everything he had already been through. However, he decided it was the best decision for his future. He explained that during the 2025 season he never felt 100% fit, and that made it difficult to perform at his best.

During the collarbone surgery, doctors carried out a bone graft, taking a small piece of bone from his hip to help the collarbone heal strongly. Martin says his collarbone now feels normal again and his strength is returning well. His hand has healed too, but he still needs to improve the strength and movement in his wrist.

He missed the Sepang test in Malaysia to focus fully on his recovery. Last year, he crashed heavily on the opening day of testing in Sepang, which badly affected the rest of his season. In total, he finished only four grands prix in what turned out to be a very frustrating campaign.

Now his main goal is to be ready for the Buriram test on 21–22 February. Before travelling to Thailand, he plans to ride bikes in Spain to build up his fitness and confidence again. He knows the Thailand test is important because it will give him valuable time on the new Aprilia machine before the season begins.

The 2026 MotoGP season will start with the Thai Grand Prix at Buriram on 1 March, just one week after the test. If he receives final medical clearance, Martin hopes this will finally mark the end of his injury problems and the start of a strong new chapter with Aprilia.
