After a long summer break, MotoGP returned in style at the Red Bull Ring with Free Practice 1 under sunny skies. Marc Márquez set the fastest time ahead of main championship rival Alex Marquez, as riders pushed hard in perfect conditions. Mistakes and wide runs kept the session lively, and fans witnessed strong pace from Bezzecchi, the Márquez brothers, and Morbidelli in a competitive top ten.
After the summer break, MotoGP returned with Free Practice 1 at the Red Bull Ring. The weather was sunny, providing perfect conditions for the riders. As usual in this 45-minute session, everyone went straight out on track.
Within a few minutes, several riders were already running wide. Marco Bezzecchi went straight into the gravel after missing a corner. The lap times were between 1:31 and 1:29. The early fastest time was held by Marc Márquez, who was the only one in the 1:29 range at that stage. But not for long, his brother Alex Márquez soon went faster, followed by Franco Morbidelli and Enea Bastianini who also moved ahead of Marc.

Most riders chose a soft front tyre and a medium rear tyre, which seemed to give the best pace. Francesco Bagnaia, expected by many fans to dominate, moved from 11th to 4th. Both Aprilia riders, Bezzecchi and Jorge Martin, were also doing well at this stage. Bagnaia didn’t wait long before putting in a fast lap to go first with a 1:29.
After a quick stop in the pits, and for Oliveira to put on a hard tyre, riders went back out to push for faster times. Marc Márquez, who was in 7th when he started his next lap, moved up to 3rd despite losing time in sectors 2 and 3. On the following lap, he set the fastest time of the session so far: 1:29.376. It’s worth mentioning that Fabio Quartararo was performing well and was once again the top Yamaha in 6th.
Meanwhile, Miguel Oliveira went wide at Turn 4 into the gravel, and Alex Márquez also ran wide at Turn 1, using the long lap penalty section. At that moment, the top five were: Marc Márquez, Bagnaia, Alex Márquez, Bezzecchi, and Morbidelli.
With 11 minutes left, Quartararo started a good lap, but made a mistake at Turn 6 and had to abandon it. The only change in the top five then was Bezzecchi moving up to 3rd. Maverick Viñales, normally fast on KTM, was struggling all session around 20th place. On the other hand, Joan Mir was doing well in 6th.
Marc Márquez was being followed closely by Jorge Martin. Marc made a mistake at Turn 9, going wide, and Martin also made a mistake shortly after at Turn 1.

With one minute left, most riders began their final flying laps. When the chequered flag came out, Marc was not able to improve. Martin jumped to 8th, right behind Quartararo in 7th. Viñales finished the practice in 20th. Bezzecchi improved slightly in the last sector, but it wasn't enough to change position, and he stayed 3rd. Alex Márquez had a decent lap but also couldn't improve.
Marc Márquez topped the session ahead of Francesco Bagnaia, with Marco Bezzecchi third, followed by Alex Márquez in fourth, Franco Morbidelli fifth, Joan Mir sixth, Fabio Quartararo seventh, Jorge Martin eighth, Pedro Acosta ninth, and Enea Bastianini in tenth.
