Alex Márquez fastest in Friday FP1 in Barcelona

Alex Márquez finished first in the Friday morning practice session in Barcelona. The session was short and full of action, with fast lap times, yellow flags, and crashes for Jorge Martin and Pedro Acosta.

The Friday morning practice in Barcelona took place under cloudy skies. As usual, this session was only 45 minutes long, and the riders went immediately onto the track. Yamaha brought Augusto Fernández as the wildcard for this weekend.

The first measured lap times were in the 1:42 to 1:44 range, with Pedro Acosta taking the lead. With new attempts, the times became faster, ranging from 1:40 to 1:43. Jorge Martin was leading the session seven minutes in.

Most of the riders chose a soft front tyre with a medium rear tyre. With 10 minutes into the session, the top 10 looked as follows: Acosta, Bezzecchi, Bastianini, A. Márquez, Miller, Martin, Zarco, Moreira, Aldeguer.

The times were close, as the top 16 riders were all within one second of the leader. Jorge Martin, riding incredibly, took the lead again, being only 0.012s faster than Di Giannantonio in second.

With the session being halfway done, the top 10 looked as follows: Martin, Di Giannantonio, Acosta, Bezzecchi, Bastianini, Aldeguer, A. Márquez, Miller, Zarco, Moreira.

Ai Ogura, who finished on the podium last weekend, was in 20th place, but it was just a morning session and there was room for improvement. Francesco Bagnaia, the only rider from the factory Ducati team, was down in 16th place.

The first yellow flag was out with 18 minutes left, when Jorge Martin crashed in Sector 4. Soon after Martin, Pedro Acosta crashed at Turn 2.

With 11 minutes left, another yellow flag came out, this time for Brad Binder crashing at Turn 2.

The top 10 looked as follows: Martin, Di Giannantonio, Acosta, Bezzecchi, Bastianini, Aldeguer, A. Márquez, Miller, Zarco, Moreira. With the session almost over, Alex Márquez put in an incredible lap and moved to the lead of the session.

With one minute left in the session, Alex Márquez was the first rider to break into the 1:39 range.

With the chequered flag out, the positions remained the same, and Alex Márquez topped the practice session.
