Formula 1 Fernando Alonso F1 drivers’ lives Aston Martin 2026 F1 season
Fernando Alonso’s first child was born ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix and the driver shared his first reaction as a dad in Suzuka. He missed media day and first practice.
He arrived at the Suzuka circuit in Japan on Friday and attended second practice. He spoke to DAZN for the first time as a father: “Fortunately, it went well, both for the mum and the baby. A super happy, very special moment.”
He also added that you never really imagine anything specific. That things just happen as they happen, and there’s a bit of stress and worry about everything going well. Alonso also admitted that he is a little jet-lagged because he landed this morning.
Earlier this week Aston Martin announced that their reserve driver Jack Crawford will replace Alonso in FP1. Later the team added that Alonso wouldn’t be present for a media day either. The team didn’t add any further details so the fans speculated about the reason why. There were rumours about him and his partner Mellisa Jiménez that they are expecting the birth of their first child.
