Williams will celebrate its home race at Silverstone with a special one-off livery inspired by the Union Jack. The design incorporates red, white and blue elements to mark the team's British heritage and its long history of success at the iconic circuit.
Atlassian Williams F1 Team has revealed a special one-off livery that will be used at this weekend's British Grand Prix, with the FW48 featuring Union Jack-inspired details for the team's home race at Silverstone.
While retaining its familiar blue base colour, the car incorporates red, white and blue elements across the nose and sidepods, paying tribute to the British flag and the team's home event. Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz will also race in special edition overalls designed to match the one-off look.
The commemorative livery celebrates Williams' rich history at Silverstone. The Grove-based outfit claimed its first-ever Formula 1 victory at the circuit in 1979 with Clay Regazzoni and recorded its milestone 100th Grand Prix win there in 1997 thanks to Jacques Villeneuve. Williams has won the British Grand Prix eight times, with Nigel Mansell responsible for three of those victories, including his famous 1991 triumph when he gave Ayrton Senna a lift back to the pits on the sidepod of his car.
The special livery is part of the team's celebrations for its home race, with a show car carrying the British Grand Prix design touring Cardiff, Manchester, Edinburgh and London during race week.
Team Principal James Vowles highlighted the importance of Silverstone to the team and thanked the fans for their support.
"We are proud to be flying the flag for the British Grand Prix this week. From our first win to our 100th, Silverstone has been the stage for some of Atlassian Williams' most iconic moments, and there is nothing else on the Formula 1 calendar quite like the atmosphere created by the home crowd. Whether fans are cheering us on from the grandstands, the Fan Zone or from home, we truly feel their energy and will carry that support with us throughout the entire weekend," said Vowles.
