Formula 1 has signed a new deal with the city of Baku, keeping the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on the calendar at least until 2030.
Baku first hosted a race in 2016 as the European Grand Prix, and from 2017 it became the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The previous contract was set to end next year, but now fans can enjoy this exciting race for many more years.
The Baku City Circuit is 6 km long and is famous for combining very tight, tricky corners with long, fast straights. The track passes through Baku’s historic old town, and one of its corners is one of the narrowest on the F1 calendar.
Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali praised the city’s energy and said the new deal reflects strong cooperation between Formula 1, the Azerbaijani government, and the race organizers.
Azerbaijan’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Farid Gayibov, said the extension shows the country’s commitment to hosting world-class events. He added that the Azerbaijan Grand Prix not only delivers exciting racing but also highlights the beauty, energy, and hospitality of Baku. The new agreement secures the city’s place as a major international sporting destination for years to come.
