Max Verstappen reacted briefly to criticism from Carlos Sainz following a tense midfield battle in the Miami Grand Prix, describing the situation in simple terms.

Max Verstappen responded in his usual direct style after being questioned about his aggressive moves during the opening stages of the Miami Grand Prix, where he found himself fighting in the midfield following an early spin.

Starting from the front row, Verstappen lost ground after a mistake in the opening corners while battling Charles Leclerc. That dropped him into traffic, where he had to work his way past several cars, including the Williams Racing duo of Carlos Sainz and Alexander Albon.

The fight with Sainz quickly became one of the more intense moments of the opening lap. The Spaniard later suggested that Verstappen’s approach felt overly forceful, particularly given the circumstances in the midfield, and hinted that it put him at risk of losing positions after being pushed wide.

Verstappen, however, did not engage in a detailed debate when asked about those comments.

"I don't know, it is a bit of a jungle in the midfield, so I don't know what to say," said the Red Bull driver, as quoted by RacingNews365.

The Dutch driver’s remark summed up the chaotic nature of the early laps, where several drivers battled closely for position following incidents at the front. Despite the setback, Verstappen managed to recover and finish inside the top five, limiting the damage in the championship standings after what initially looked like a difficult race.
