Valtteri Bottas has admitted he left the Canadian Grand Prix feeling that his Cadillac package was not operating at full potential, after a weekend defined by inconsistency and unresolved setup issues in Montreal.
The Finn was once again outpaced by team-mate Sergio Perez, who held a clear edge across both sprint and main qualifying sessions. While Bottas’ sprint result was affected by a disrupted run after a red flag, the overall performance gap between the two remained evident throughout the weekend.
His race ended in a disappointing last-place finish, four laps behind winner Kimi Antonelli, before Bottas detailed the scale of the limitations he faced.
"We had a few issues with the setup, the car was very different in each session, and even race, there were some things that we couldn't fix, so the car is not 100%," Bottas said, as quoted by RacingNews365.
"For sure, it's not yet in a place where I can gain good confidence with the car, but also we know that my power wasn't 100%," the Cadillac driver added.
Cadillac’s first season in Formula 1 remains a steep learning process, with development still focused on unlocking consistency and improving performance across all areas of the car. Bottas pointed to continuous updates as a key part of that progress.
"Performance. Both mechanically and aero-wise equally, we've got to improve and find new parts, but there are parts coming for pretty much each race, and that's a good thing," the Finn said when asked about the team’s main priority.
Reports from BILD and Sky Sports Italia have meanwhile suggested Cadillac is already evaluating its driver line-up internally, despite Bottas being under a multi-year contract.
