Formula 1’s newest team has reached a major milestone. Cadillac F1 Team completed its first-ever on-track running on Friday, giving its 2026 car a maiden shakedown at Silverstone Circuit ahead of pre-season testing.
The American outfit rolled out its Ferrari-powered 2026 challenger in damp conditions, marking the first time a Cadillac Formula 1 car has turned a wheel on track. Sergio Perez was given the honour of driving the car for its debut run, while team-mate Valtteri Bottas followed proceedings from the pit lane. Team CEO Dan Towriss was also present for the landmark moment.
Cadillac shared a short video on social media showing the car running down the pit straight, filmed from a distance, before releasing additional images later in the day. Although the shakedown was limited in scope, it represented a crucial step in the team’s preparations for its first season on the Formula 1 grid.
Speaking after completing the initial laps, Perez described the day as a highly emotional moment for everyone involved in the project.
“Today was really an amazing day. Everyone should feel incredibly proud to complete our first laps as a team. Each and every person has worked so hard to get to this moment and it was emotional to be part of motorsport history,” Perez said.
Cadillac will now continue its build-up towards official pre-season testing, where it will run alongside the rest of the grid for the first time. The team is set to make its full competitive debut when the 2026 Formula 1 season gets underway, with the opening round scheduled for the Australian Grand Prix in early March.
