EA Sports has confirmed it will not launch a separate Formula 1 game for 2026. As stated in the press release, the season’s new cars, rules and teams will arrive as a paid expansion for F1 25, while the studio focuses on a fully revamped title planned for 2027.

EA Sports has confirmed that there will be no separate Formula 1 game released for the 2026 season. Instead, players will receive a paid expansion for F1 25 that will introduce the 2026 cars, updated regulations and the new team line-ups.

While these changes will be added to F1 25 through the expansion, EA Sports is directing most of its effort into a completely refreshed title for 2027. The company says the next standalone game is intended to look, feel and play differently, with a wider range of gameplay features.

“F1 25 has been an incredible success, fuelled by the passion of fans and the energy of the sport. With Formula 1’s momentum on and off the track, now is the perfect time for us to look ahead and build for the future,” said Lee Mather, senior creative director at Codemasters.

“We’re fully committed to the EA Sports F1 franchise. Our multi-year plan extends this year’s excitement with the 2026 expansion and reimagines the F1 experience for 2027 to deliver even more for players at every level around the world,” added Mather.

Choosing not to produce a dedicated 2026 game gives EA Sports more time to understand the real behaviour of the new technical package rather than rushing an interpretation into a standalone release. It also provides developers with additional breathing room to overhaul the series for the following year.
