MotoGP motogpfriday Reports motogpmugello Motogp 2026 Season
Fabio Di Giannantonio finished fastest in an exciting MotoGP practice session filled with crashes, red flags, and late improvements. Francesco Bagnaia and Franco Morbidelli also secured places in Q2, while Marc Márquez reached the top 10.
This practice session is 60 minutes long, and as is customary, the fastest top 10 riders will earn direct promotion to Q2.
The early measured laps were in a time range from 1:45s to 1:49s. The riders chose different tyre configurations, ranging from a soft front and medium rear to both medium tyres.
Francesco Bagnaia continued his good performance on his home turf and was leading the session. In second was Alex Rins, who was the top rider for Yamaha. Meanwhile, Marc Márquez was just outside the top 10.
With 10 minutes into the session, the top 10 looked as follows: Bagnaia, Rins, Di Giannantonio, Martin, Bastianini, Bezzecchi, Aldeguer, Moreira, Fernandez, Morbidelli.
As the session neared its halfway mark, the majority of the riders were still in the pits, and the top 10 remained unchanged.
As the riders returned to the track, there were many fast laps and improvements. A great example of this was Ai Ogura, who put in an incredible lap and moved to the lead of the session. Meanwhile, Fabio Quartararo managed to improve to 17th place.
Marco Bezzecchi, who was in fifth place, finished his fast lap and took the lead from Ogura with a time of 1:45.024s. The yellow flag was quickly turned into a red flag as Fabio Quartararo crashed at Turn 4.

As the session resumed, there was another yellow flag, this one caused by Jack Miller, who crashed at Turn 1.
With 25 minutes left in the session, the top 10 looked as follows: Bezzecchi, Ogura, Bagnaia, Rins, Di Giannantonio, Martin, Fernandez, Bastianini, Aldeguer, Moreira.
The standings in the top 10 changed again, with Fermín Aldeguer moving into second place. Marc Márquez was in 13th place, unable to find more speed. Fabio Quartararo was down in 17th place, while his teammate was in fifth.
Meanwhile, Brad Binder had a technical problem with his bike with 12 minutes left in the session. Binder left the bike near the wall, and it caused a red flag.

As the session resumed, there were only 12 minutes left. However, some riders managed to find improvement, like Jack Miller, who moved up to third place.
Marc Márquez, who put in an incredible lap, moved briefly into the lead before Morbidelli took over and became the first rider to break into the 1:44s range. Shortly after, Di Giannantonio and Bagnaia overtook him.
With four minutes left, the top 10 looked as follows: Di Giannantonio, Bagnaia, Morbidelli, Aldeguer, Márquez, Bezzecchi, Bastianini, Rins, Moreira, Martin.
Fabio Quartararo had a decent lap, but it was not enough for him to break into the top 10. On the other hand, Raul Fernandez started a great lap, with both the first and second sectors looking promising, but he was slower in the third sector, so he only improved to 10th place.
Both Bezzecchi and Bastianini started decent laps, but both were slower in sector 3, so Bezzecchi improved to fifth while Bastianini jumped to third place.
With the chequered flag out, the riders were finishing their laps. It was only Martin who found improvement and moved up to eighth place.
The 10 riders advancing directly to Q2 were: Di Giannantonio, Bagnaia, Bastianini, Morbidelli, Aldeguer, Márquez, Bezzecchi, Martin, Rins, and Moreira.
