Francesco "Pecco" Bagnaia has undergone successful surgery on his right forearm during the MotoGP summer break. The Ducati rider is now focusing on his recovery and hopes to return in full fitness for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
Francesco “Pecco” Bagnaia has had successful surgery during the MotoGP summer break. The Ducati rider had an operation on his right forearm to treat compartment syndrome, a problem that many motorcycle racers suffer from.
The surgery was carried out at the Policlinico di Modena in Italy by a specialist medical team. Ducati confirmed that the operation went well and there were no complications.
Bagnaia decided to have the operation during the summer break because it gives him time to recover before the next race. He is expected to begin rehabilitation straight away and hopes to be fully fit for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone in early August.
Compartment syndrome is a common condition in MotoGP. It causes pressure and pain in the forearm during races, making it harder for riders to control their bikes. Surgery is often the best way to solve the problem.
The operation comes after a difficult first half of the season for the two-time MotoGP world champion. Bagnaia has not been happy with his results and has struggled to fight at the front as often as he expected. He now hopes the surgery will help him perform better in the remaining races of the season.
With several races still to come, Bagnaia and Ducati believe the summer break is the perfect time for him to recover. If everything goes as planned, he should return to action at Silverstone ready to challenge for stronger results in the second half of the MotoGP season.
