MotoGP is preparing to return to Brazil in 2026, with a key test event planned at the Ayrton Senna circuit in Goiania at the end of February. The race is scheduled for 20 to 22 March and will replace the Argentina Grand Prix as the second round of the season.

The circuit has been fully repaved, and many safety and building upgrades have been made, including new kerbs, larger run-off areas and improvements to the pit lane, paddock, medical centre and race control. Local reports say the work is about 84% complete after some delays caused by extra requests from the FIM and Dorna.

An FIM inspection last week gave positive feedback, and officials said there was no serious reason to doubt the race will go ahead as planned. Another test event will take place from 29 February to 1 March, featuring 300cc, 600cc and 1000cc races behind closed doors to help the circuit receive full approval.

The event will be run by many of the same officials and marshals who will work at the MotoGP race, including some from the Formula 1 Sao Paulo Grand Prix. If the race happens, Brazilian fans will be able to support Diogo Moreira, who will make his MotoGP debut with LCR Honda after becoming the first Brazilian world champion in Moto2.

VR46 rider Franco Morbidelli also has strong Brazilian family roots, which adds to local interest. After more than 20 years away, MotoGP’s return to Brazil could become one of the most exciting moments in the country’s motorsport history.
