Isack Hadjar was left frustrated after Qualifying at the Canadian Grand Prix as he gone from topping Q2 to seventh position in the final part. During Q1 and Q2 his pace looked promising even though there wasn’t much pace in Sprint race earlier that day.

Despite strong beginning of Qualifying, the Red Bull driver blamed himself for poor finish, quoted by the official Formula 1 website: “I made a mistake on the first run of Q3, and I couldn’t really have a good reference heading into that final lap and I was kind of overdriving it.”

“It’s really a shame because it’s the first time this year we’ve had such a good car, and I had to kind of throw it all away because I didn’t do a good job,” he continued. Despite Hadjar’s problems he acknowledged that Red Bull made a progress entering the Qualifying after the Sprint race: “We need to understand why we were so much quicker than yesterday, even though I have an idea.”

“That’s definitely positive, but then on the other hand I should have been in that top three and I didn’t,” he concluded.

Before Qualifying Hadjar faced problems earlier that day in the Sprint as he had to retire the car. He eventually rejoined the race at the back of the field to collect race data for the team. In Qualifying he ended up behind his teammate Max Verstappen who will start the Grand Prix from sixth place.
