Jack Doohan has revealed he received serious death threats during his difficult 2025 Formula 1 season with Alpine.
Former Formula 1 driver Jack Doohan has opened up about the intense pressure he faced during his 2025 rookie season with Alpine, including receiving serious death threats at the height of speculation about his future with the team.
The Australian joined Alpine as a full-time race driver in 2025 alongside Pierre Gasly, but early rumours suggesting he could be replaced by Argentine prospect Franco Colapinto created a difficult environment. The uncertainty surrounding his seat added to the scrutiny already typical for a rookie season in Formula 1.
After the Miami Grand Prix, Alpine moved Doohan into a reserve role. He has since secured a new opportunity as a reserve driver with Haas for the 2026 season, aiming to continue building his presence in the sport.
His turbulent spell at Alpine will also feature in the upcoming eighth season of Netflix’s Drive to Survive, where he spoke candidly about the situation and the personal impact it had.
"I got serious death threats for this Miami Grand Prix, saying they’re going to kill me here, if I’m not out of the car," he explained on the docuseries.
"I had six or seven emails saying if I am still in the car by Miami, all my limbs will be cut off... On Wednesday, I was there with my girlfriend and my trainer, and I’ve got three armed men around me - I had to call my police escort to come and get it under control," added Doohan, who is now preparing for his Haas F1 Team reserve role.
