Haas F1 Team has announced the signing of Jack Doohan as an official reserve driver for the 2026 Formula 1 season. The 23-year-old Australian arrives from Alpine, where he started the 2025 season as a race driver, contesting the opening six rounds from Australia to Miami before returning to a reserve role for the remainder of the season.

There had been speculation that Doohan could race in Super Formula in Asia this year, but those plans did not materialise and it remains unclear whether he will contest a full racing programme in 2026.

Doohan made his Formula 1 race debut at the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, having served as Alpine’s reserve driver throughout the 2023 and 2024 seasons. During that time, he took part in several FP1 sessions and Testing of Previous Cars (TPC) programmes, building experience across multiple circuits.

The Queensland-born driver enjoyed a strong junior career, finishing runner-up in the FIA Formula 3 Championship in 2021 and later achieving multiple race victories in FIA Formula 2, where he ended the 2023 season third in the standings. He is the son of five-time MotoGP World Champion Mick Doohan.

For 2026, Haas will operate with two reserve drivers. Doohan joins Ryō Hirakawa, who has been part of the team since April 2025 and has already completed several TPC tests and FP1 outings while competing full-time in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

“I’m thrilled to be joining Haas F1 Team,” Doohan said. “It’s the ideal place to continue my Formula 1 career. I’m grateful for the opportunity and I’m looking forward to working with the team as we prepare for the 2026 season.”

Team principal Ayao Komatsu welcomed the signing, highlighting Doohan’s experience and commitment. He noted the challenge of staying prepared as a reserve driver and expressed confidence that Doohan will be a valuable asset to the team.
