The MotoGP Champion Jorge Martín was honored in Madrid on May 2, 2025, where he received the prestigious Grand Cross of the Order of Dos de Mayo. This award was presented during the Community of Madrid Day celebrations at Puerta del Sol. Martín received it as he was the first rider from Madrid to win the MotoGP championship. Despite a delay due to rain, the ceremony proceeded outdoors, with regional president Isabel Díaz Ayuso officiating. Martín shared the spotlight with boxer Ilia Topuria, the only other athlete to be honored that day.

This event marked Martín's first public appearance since his serious crash at the Qatar Grand Prix in March, where he sustained eleven rib fractures. He then returned to Spain via a medical flight from Doha only a few days before the ceremony.
During the ceremony, Martín received a heartfelt video message from tennis legend Rafael Nadal, who congratulated him on his achievements and expressed hope to meet him soon.
Martín won his first MotoGP title in November 2024 at the Solidarity Grand Prix in Barcelona. He rode for Prima Pramac Racing and finished the race in third place, edging out Francesco Bagnaia by 10 points. This victory made him the first non-factory rider to win the title since 2001.
Following his championship win, Martín celebrated in his hometown of San Sebastián de los Reyes, where fans gathered to honor his achievement. He also received tributes from fellow Spanish athletes, including Carlos Sainz Jr., Fernando Alonso, and Carlos Alcaraz.
In December 2024, Martín was honored by his favorite football club, Atlético de Madrid, where he rode a Ducati Panigale around the Metropolitano Stadium, displaying his MotoGP trophy to over 60,000 fans.
Looking ahead, Martín is now recovering so he can hopefully return soon to racing.
