KTM says it is close to finalising a major investment deal for its MotoGP project after months of financial uncertainty. The Austrian manufacturer reports strong interest from multiple parties and aims to secure a partner before Christmas, reinforcing its long-term commitment to MotoGP and the upcoming 2027 regulations.
KTM has shared that many people are interested in investing in its MotoGP team, and the company hopes to make a final decision before Christmas. The Austrian manufacturer has faced a very challenging year after a major financial crisis last winter. Fortunately, KTM secured its future thanks to increased support from Bajaj, which now holds a major ownership stake. Bajaj understands the importance of KTM staying in MotoGP, especially with new rules coming in the next few seasons.
To show its continued commitment to the championship, KTM recently released a short video of its brand-new 850cc MotoGP engine being tested for the first time. This engine is designed for the new technical rules that will begin in 2027, so the company clearly plans to stay on the grid long-term.
Because running a MotoGP team is expensive, KTM has been open to receiving help from outside investors. Earlier in the year, there were even rumours that Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton was considering involvement, although nothing official ever happened. Interest has grown even more since Liberty Media took over MotoGP, as many companies now see the sport as a strong investment. A good example is Tech3, which was recently bought for €20 million by a group led by former Haas F1 team boss Günther Steiner.
KTM’s CEO, Gottfried Neumeister, explained that the team is looking for an investor who would pay around 30% of the operating costs. However, he stressed that KTM will always keep control of its racing programme. He said that many potential partners get in touch almost every day, and the company wants to take its time to choose the best option. Neumeister also explained that KTM is not looking for someone who only brings money. He believes that trust and a shared vision are equally important, because racing success requires a strong and stable partnership.
He has already spoken personally with several possible investors and thinks that a deal might be signed before Christmas. KTM wants to make sure it has full support and a strong financial base as it prepares for the 2026 season and beyond. Even though the last year has been tough, KTM now appears confident about its future in MotoGP. With a new engine, fresh financial security, and so much interest from investors, the team hopes to continue fighting for wins and competing at the top of the sport.
