Max Verstappen returns to the Nürburgring this weekend for another GT racing challenge. The Dutch driver will compete in two four-hour qualifying races ahead of next month’s legendary 24 Hours of Nürburgring, and fans can watch all the action live.
Max Verstappen is back in action at the Nürburgring this weekend as he continues his 2026 endurance racing programme on the famous Nordschleife.
The four-time Formula 1 world champion will take part in two four-hour races, with the first event scheduled for Saturday and the second on Sunday. Both races serve as official qualifying events for the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, which takes place on 16–17 May.
A total of 132 cars are entered for the weekend, including 37 GT3 machines in the top SP9 category. Verstappen will drive the #3 Mercedes-AMG GT3 entered by Verstappen Racing in cooperation with Winward Racing.
This time, Verstappen will share the car with Lucas Auer. It will be their first race together on the Nordschleife this season.
Verstappen already competed at Nürburgring earlier this year in the NLS2 round. He crossed the finish line first alongside Jules Gounon and Daniel Juncadella, but the result was later cancelled after a tyre regulation infringement.
This weekend’s races are especially important preparation for the famous 24-hour event, with teams using the sessions to finalise line-ups and gather crucial data on one of the world’s toughest circuits.
There is also a special challenge this time, as Saturday’s race starts late in the afternoon and finishes in darkness, giving Verstappen his first competitive night racing experience at the Nürburgring.
