The sprint race started under sunny weather. After a successful warm-up lap, the race began. The start was perfect for Alex Márquez, who took the lead. Francesco Bagnaia had a very bad start and dropped many positions. Meanwhile, Bezzecchi, who started from first place, was in 3rd by the end of the lap. Even Jorge Martin had some problems and went wide. Fermín Aldeguer also had a bad start, though he hadn't dropped as many positions as Bagnaia, although Bagnaia had slowed Bastianini. And from 4th place, Acosta improved to 3rd place.

The top 10 looked like this: Alex Márquez, Marc Márquez, Acosta, Bezzecchi, Raúl Fernández, Binder, Fabio Di Giannantonio, Bastianini, Fermín Aldeguer, Franco Morbidelli.

After 2 laps, Acosta, Fabio Quartararo and Ai Ogura received a warning, which was very soon at this stage of a sprint. Soon even Brad Binder and Joan Mir received track warnings. Meanwhile, Bagnaia, who had dropped from 3rd place, was still in 14th. For a moment, Joan Mir overtook Martin before Martin took the position back. And with 8 laps to go, Bagnaia dropped further back and he was in 16th position. Martin was in 14th with Luca Marini ahead of him and Joan Mir behind him. Alex still held the lead, but his brother Marc was close behind him. It was clear that Bagnaia was struggling with his bike, dropping further down the grid. Bagnaia, due to this problem, retired from the race, as it was almost impossible for him to keep riding the bike.

With 6 laps to go the top 10 looked like this: Alex, Marc, Acosta, Bezzecchi, Binder, Bastianini, Aldeguer, Di Giannantonio, Zarco, and Quartararo. However, Fernández dropped from 5th place to the back of the grid, and for unknown reasons, he retired from the race. At the front, Marc took the lead from his brother, but Alex was still close behind him. Morbidelli, who had been doing decently so far, dropped further down the grid after he ran wide.

With 2 laps to go, Marc Márquez received a track limit warning. Jorge Martin overtook Quartararo for 10th place, moving ahead.

Marc Márquez won the sprint race at the Red Bull Ring, with his brother Alex in second and Acosta in third place.
